CANCELLED DUE TO CLASH WITH ROYAL WEDDING BANK HOLIDAY 30th April & 1st May Model and Craft show & South Wales WII Olympics
8th 9th & 10th July Bridgend County Show
Bridgend Festivals would like to thank everyone who came down and helped make the Feastival fun and exciting this year. It was a great success – with the exception of the unintentionally amusing collapse of the ten foot cauliflower sheep of course.
Later today we will be posting up a small selection of the photo’s Louie Milburn took of the event – in the mean time you can see more of his work here.
UPDATE: Here is that selection I mentioned earlier.
Over August Bank Holiday Weekend over 30000 people attended Bridgend Festivals Fun In The Sun where they were treated to live music and free exhibitions and a range of crafts and gift stalls. A special thanks to all of you who came down. We hope to see you again next year.
Be sure to check out our Facebook page for photos of the event. Click the image below.

Have a look at these superb photo’s of the Bridgend Lions Festival Of Races. A few of them are our own but the vast majority were taken by the supremely talented Louis Milburn who generously lent them to us for the purposes of this gallery.
Be sure to check out his site and see all of his other fantastic photography.
The inaugural Bridgend Lions Festival of Running 5km saw a close race on the tight 5 lap circuit in Bridgend Town Centre. An excellent Welsh field was started by the First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM, and a large group of contenders led through the first kilometre in an ambitious 2.52 led by former Olympic triathlete Marc Jenkins.
The pace settled down, and a group of 10 athletes went through 2k in 5:52 with Simon Jones taking the first of 3 Wyndham Street primes, as the narrow tight course, made a perfect spectator friendly loop of the pedestrianised centre.
The relentless pace saw the group whittled down, with Chris Discombe, confident from his 14:37 Welsh 5000m championship title on the track a week earlier, taking the 2nd prime award.
The race opened up on the last lap with Nat Lane (Cardiff AAC) stretching the field and taking the final prime, however always in the shadows, was the threat of Steve Davies with his 1500m track speed, and devastating kick.
In the final 500m he pounced to take an immediate advantage to impressively pull away to win, taking Chris Discombe with him to 2nd place.
In the womens race Olympic triathlete Helen Jenkins ran from gun to tape, to take the win, and ran a solid 16:35. This win has come off the back of two world class triathlon performances the previous weekends in Madrid and Des Moines, USA.
Alaw Beynon-Thomas was always comfortable in 2nd ahead of Swansea’s Elinor Kirk.
